For every great cause, there needs to be a pioneer leading the way. Sustainability is no different.

2021’s Sustainability Pioneer award was sponsored by Eaton, a company that believes in the importance of sustainability, with its own goal to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Their decision to sponsor the award was in no small part related to the importance they put on environmental issues.

Ciaran Forde, the Data Center Segment leader of EMEA for Eaton, spoke to DCD after the award was presented. “Environmental issues are at the forefront of everybody's mind at the moment. Every household and every industry is taking stock of its own environmental efforts.

“So it's very important that we, as an industry, take steps to advance from efficiency to sustainability in the data center, and Eaton is taking some very real steps to help data centers cope with the challenges and the opportunities associated with the energy transition.

“Eaton’s taking great pleasure in being the sponsor for this great category of sustainability pioneer at the data center awards.”

The award well-deservingly went to Aidin Aghamiri, CEO of ITRenew, who expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reminded the audience of the importance of sustainability.

“To those who had a role of me being selected for this amazing award. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I am humbled and extremely appreciative to the DCD in the judging panel for this honor and recognition.

“It's true that sustainability is top of mind. For many in our industry, too often it is not top of ‘action’. Push your colleagues, leaders, your boards, your trade organizations, and your politicians to act and act now. We have no time to waste, we have a long way to go to decarbonize the data center, and I couldn't be prouder to be on this journey with all of you.”
