“The wait is over! We proudly announce that our state-of-the-art Chennai 1 Data Center is Live!” the company said on LinkedIn over the weekend.

According to the company’s website, phase one of Chennai 1 offers 17MW, and will offer 33MW of IT load at full build-out. Building one spans five floors and 213,000 sq ft. A second building is planned for the future.

“Our first site in India is now live in Chennai… lots more to come as we build out a national platform of premium data centers across all of India,” said EdgeConneX CMO Phillip Marangella. “Fantastic collaboration between Adani Group and EdgeConneX to make this happen in such a short time. Congrats to all the teams involved and supporting the success of AdaniConneX.”

Last year local conglomerate Adani partnered with EdgeConneX to form a new joint venture to develop data centers in India.

The new company, AdaniConneX, is building a data center in Chennai for Flipkart. The company is also planning facilities in locations including Visakhapatnam, Noida, Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai.
