BT has placed a point of presence (PoP) in Verne Global’s data center in Iceland, linking the renewable-powered site into pan-European enterprise networks.

The new PoP extends BT’s network, and Verne is claiming it as an endorsement of its data center in Iceland, which offers long term grid stability and uses 100 percent renewable energy from Iceland’s abundant supplies of geothermal and hydroelectric power.

The PoP will deliver BT services including IP Connect Global and Ethernet Connect Global, so BT customers can now extend their disaster recovery services, data analytics and other applications to servers based in Verne’s Keflavik campus.

Carbon neutral site

Verne Global’s Keflavik site is carbon neutral, and offers wholesale and colocation services, in a high-density, flexible data center space. Since the site opened in 2012, customers including BMW, RMS, CCP Games, Datapipe and RVX Studios have moved resources into the site.
