CitiGroup is launching two build-out projects at its data centers in the Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth areas of Texas.

The company has filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for ‘Battery Room Buildouts’ at two locations in the state.

The locations are at its Georgetown Data Center at 201 Blue Ridge Drive in Georgetown, Williamson County, and its South West Data Center at 931 Litsey Road in Tarrant County’s Roanoke.

The description for the Georgetown project is for ‘fitting out existing equipment rooms’ at the 304,700 sq ft facility, while the Roanoke description is for ‘turning existing battery rooms to data hall and data hall support’.

Work is set to start at the beginning of March and finish in December of this year. The company is spending $500,000 at each facility.

Citi previously had a footprint of around 70 data centers, but consolidated down to around 20 as of 2012.

The Georgetown site opened in 2008 and is LEED Gold Certified. In 2017 Citi said the Roanoke site would be 50 percent powered by renewable energy from MP2 Energy.

Citi also has a data center at its 388 and 390 Greenwich Street office complex in New York, and was previously known to operate a facility in New Jersey.

It has previously operated a facility in Columbus, Ohio known as its Midwest Data Center. In 2010 Wipro bought a Citi facility in Meerbusch near Dusseldorf, Germany. The company also built a facility in Frankfurt in 2007. A Singapore facility at the Cintech II office building also achieved LEED Gold in 2009. It acquired three data centers in Birmingham, Alabama, and Winston, North Carolina as part of its 2008 acquisition of Wachovia.
