Each building will span 251,815 sq ft (23,395 sqm) and will be located at 500, 540, and 581 Austin Boulevard. Construction costs are estimated to reach $300 million.

DBJ reports that construction on two of the buildings began in recent months, while the third has been ongoing since December 2022. A source with knowledge of the matter told DCD that construction on the third actually commenced in the fall of 2023.

Construction on all three buildings should be completed by 2025/26.

Compass has been working on the Red Oak campus for several years. The company first bought 165 acres in 2019 with plans to host 16 buildings. This was expanded to 225 acres of land in Red Oak in 2020 to build out up to 350MW of data centers. That campus, located at 300 Houston School Road has one 1 million sq ft building completed with another 250,000 sq ft facility in development that was due for completion by the end of 2022.

2022 also saw Compass file with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a new 250,000 sq ft (23,225 sqm) data center at 481 Austin Blvd in Red Oak, close to its existing campus. The $100 million project is known as Roadrunner Building 2.

In April 2023, Compass acquired another 375 acres of undeveloped land in Red Oak.

April 2024 saw reports emerge that Compass was planning two more buildings totaling more than 500,000 square feet at its campus in the area, dubbed DFW III-II Building 3 and DFW III-II Building 4. Those buildings are expected to be delivered by 2025, with a construction cost of around $200m. Those buildings are located at 501 and 541 Austin Blvd.

In June 2024, Schneider Electric opened a data center integration facility that would build pre-engineered and prefabricated IT infrastructure in Red Oak that was built by Compass following their partnership formation in July 2023 which was expanded that November.

Compass' Red Oak campus is near to Google development that was announced in September 2023. The company plans to invest $600m in developing its second data center site in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.
