EdgeConneX has acquired Indonesian colocation firm GTN, alongside a land parcel that could support a 90MW data center development in Jakarta.
The company this week officially announced the acquisition of GTN Data Center in Indonesia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Located in Bekasi Cikarang, part of greater Jakarta, GTN has been operating an almost 7MW data center since 2016.
EdgeConneX has acquired a plot of land directly adjacent to GTN, allowing for a future hyperscale data center campus that could support more than 90MW of capacity. Previous reports suggest the landbank could span up to 40,000 square meters (430,500 sq ft).
GTN was established via a joint venture between Japan's Mitsui and local IT distributor and integrator, PT Multipolar Technology, which is part of Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group.
News of the acquisition first broke in February when PT Multipolar Technology said in an IDX filing that its data center joint venture with Mitsui & Co Ltd, PT Graha Teknologi Nusantara (GTN), had been sold to EdgeConneX. Multipolar had owned 65 percent of GTN while Mitsui had owned 35 percent.
