London-based network infrastructure provider euNetworks has laid a new fiber network in the city of Manchester, covering 40 route km (25 miles) to improve its bandwidth services in Northwest England.

The work was a combination of new construction and duct acquisitions from existing fiber networks ‘The Loop’ and CityFibre.

The company has also rolled out its ‘dc connect service’ in the city, which allows customers to access to 12 local data centers – four of which are Equinix’s, with the others belonging to UKFast, LDeX Group and M247.

The network counts 864 fibers per route, three international connectivity nodes and has both pre-configured Ethernet and wavelength capacity.

“We invest in our network to provide high bandwidth scalable connections in the markets in which we operate,” said Brady Rafuse, euNetworks’ CEO.

“Data center connectivity remains critically important to business today, enabling the agility and flexibility customers seek in response to dynamic market conditions and cost efficiencies. Manchester is a significant UK growth market and our investment in constructing a new fiber network and rolling out dc connect in the city is in response to the demand we see from our customers here.

“We look forward to working closely with both the data center operators in Manchester, such as Equinix, and with our customers, to ensure bandwidth availability continues to support this growth.”

With its most recent installation, euNetworks now operates 14 fiber networks in cities across England, Ireland, France, the Netherlands and Germany and directly connects over 300 data centers in Europe.
