Virginia Beach expansion

Construction is expected to start later this month and should be completed in early 2020.

The campus will be built in the Corporate Landing Business Park, which is owned by the Virginia Beach Development Authority. PointOne purchased a 10.4 acre spot in park for its campus for $2.08 million.

The company plans to invest $81m to develop the facilities, set to open by early 2020.

Tim Shaheen, PointOne Chief Revenue Officer, said: “We appreciate the support from the State of Virginia and other state and local organizations for this project.

“We are committed to investing for the long-term to support Virginia’s growth as a key cloud computing hub in the United States.”

The company already has a facility in development in Remington Park, Northern Virginia. Six data centers with a total power capacity of 242MW are planned.

PointOne launched its hyperscale division in May last year, backed by a $7.5 billion dedicated fund.
