Dubbed GEN01, the data center has an IT capacity of 12MW and will host the company’s bore pipe, beach manhole, and fronthaul system to land eight new subsea cables.

The company added that it has also secured investment from Arrow Global. Details of the transaction were not shared.

Aditya Ayyagari, CEO of Quadrivium, said: “Genova is a key strategic market and location for Quadrivium, where we are developing a rich peering ecosystem bringing together submarine cables, international carriers, terrestrial networks, hyperscalers and IXPs. Peering in Europe is concentrated in a handful of inland metros, with Marseille the sole exception.

“With our investment, Genoa will not only provide a landing, interconnection, and peering diversity alternative but will also emerge as one of Europe's leading digital hubs and serve a pivotal role in the world’s interconnection architecture. We are thrilled to be partnering with a top-tier financial partner like Arrow Global to execute on our strategic vision and continue our expansion plans.”

Founded in 2022, Quadrivium aims to develop Tier III quality, carrier-neutral data centers and cable landing stations across Europe.

On its website, the company says it has selected six locations in Europe, each with multiple subsea cable landings, to develop new facilities. The cable landing station at its 20MW data center campus in Chania is the only facility currently listed on its website.

Quadrivium CEO Ayyagari has previously held positions at Equinix, BT, and Tech Mahindra.

Genoa has become a hub for subsea cables in recent years, with Blue Raman and 2Africa both landing in the city. The Unitirreno cable is also set to land at Sparkle’s CLS in Genoa in 2025.
