Stack Infrastructure to build a new 84MW data center campus in Prince William County, Virginia.

The company this week announced plans for a 34-acre development in the Northern Virginian county. The 84MW project will comprise a minimum of two buildings spanning 602,000 square feet; the first phase will be delivered in Q3 of 2023.

“Stack has again capitalized on its industry-leading expertise and deep local relationships to deliver capacity in the world’s most coveted power and land-constrained market,” said Brian Cox, Stack CEO. “This new campus adds to Stack’s already significant presence in Prince William County and is Stack’s latest demonstration of our commitment to continuously delivering scalable solutions for our clients in strategic locations across the globe.”

The news comes months after Stack announced a new 80-acre, 216MW data center campus in Ashburn, Virginia.

Stack previously broke ground on a new facility on its other Northern Virginia campus in Manassas, Prince William County, in October 2021. The development is the second phase of expansion and will bring an additional 36MW of critical capacity that will eventually reach 72MW and come online starting in Q4 2022.

The company didn’t disclose where in PWC the new campus will be located. Local residents are currently fighting against a proposal to rezone more than 2,000 acres in the county to allow for data centers; QTS has confirmed it is involved, while Compass is also rumored to be interested in the development.
