Teleindia Networks data center subsidiary Data Samudra has opened its first data center in India.
The new 100,000 sq ft greenfield facility, located in Bangalore’s KIADB IT Park on Teleindia’s Office Technology park, offers 3MW of capacity across 500 racks and up to 25,000 sq ft of colocation space.
“Data Samudra is a stepping stone for us to move from traditional services business to a customer-centric outcome-based value proposition. We envision growing Data Samudra to multiple locations and geographies across India in time to come,” said Teleindia group CEO & Managing Director Mahanthesha KA.
The project saw the company reportedly invest Rs 100 crore ($13.3 million) into the facility.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister for Higher Education, IT-BT, Science and Technology, C N Ashwath Narayan, and chief executive officer of Lightstorm Telecom Connectivity, Amajit Gupta.
"Employment generation, global focus, and creating new avenues for emerging businesses are some of the immediate outcomes such projects bring about. DataSamudra will be a key contributor for such growth," said Narayan.
Teleindia began operations in 2006 and provides a number of network solutions & services to telcos and enterprises. It announced Data Samudra and plans for a Tier III-standard data center in June last year.
