The UK's Ministry of Defence has shifted a number of applications from a legacy private cloud environment to providers on its MODCloud initiative.
IT services company Netcompany assisted with the migration, including moving major armed forces websites to the cloud.
“Given our extensive industry and domain knowledge, as well as our strong track record, we understand the challenges that the MoD encounters daily, and as a result were able to assist in rapidly and successfully deploying their applications," Richard Davies, UK country manager partner of Netcompany, said.
"Today it is vitally important that our armed forces are as efficient, productive, and innovative as possible and moving to a public cloud infrastructure will deliver the flexibility and agility they need, both now and in the future.”
MODCloud is a framework and accreditation system for commercial cloud providers, including Oracle, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
Organizations within the MoD use cloud providers offered through MODCloud. The military and Netcompany did not disclose which cloud providers on MODCloud the applications were moved to.
