Ukraine's national telecoms operator, Ukrtelecom, suffered a 40m nationwide outage.

Internet service provider Triolan, meanwhile, has been down for more than 12 hours amid reports of a DDoS attack, as Russia continues its war in Ukraine.

"Ukrtelecom (AS6849) down nationally at 9:35 UTC (11:35am local) for ~40min," director of Internet analysis at Kentik, Doug Madory, said on Twitter.

"Triolan (AS13188) has been down nationally for over 12hrs due to reported cyber attack. Still almost entirely offline."

Ukrtelecom is Ukraine's monopolist telephone company, and also provides Internet and mobile services. Last Saturday, services were impacted in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Volyn, Khmelnytsia, Lviv, and Ternopil due to "combat damage." The direct cause of this outage is not yet known.

Triolan is a collective of independent business entities that together offer Internet and cable TV services across Ukraine.

In a Telegram post, Triolan said (translated): "Unfortunately, we are witnessing a vile strategy of the enemy, which is trying not only to damage our homes and infrastructure, but also to disrupt information networks and leave people without communication. Our engineering and security services are currently working and have to suspend the service for a while to keep the system as a whole operational. We are trying to stop the attackers as soon as possible and resume the network in all areas."
