US data center firm US Signal has launched an Infrastructure-as-a-Service product, OpenCloud.
OpenCloud is based on the open-source project Apache CloudStack and is designed to be a simple and secure cloud solution.
Launched on September 26, OpenCloud has both no-term and committed agreements, users only pay for what they actually use, and offers price stability that is protected against future third-party licensing changes.
“US Signal OpenCloud is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform that revolutionizes the cloud hosting market by providing the performance, cost certainty, security, and flexible consumption that customers demand to run their critical enterprise workloads,” said John White, chief operating officer at US Signal.
The decision to use Apache CloudStack was made after an evaluation of multiple commercial and open-source solutions and was ultimately selected because of its capabilities, security, and simplicity.
OpenCloud's first deployments are within US Signal's data centers in Detroit, Michigan; and Denver, Colorado.
The solution is immediately available, with US Signal planning to expand its services to include low-RPO Managed DRaaS and DaaS offerings in Q1 of 2025.
US Signal is a Midwest-based digital infrastructure provider that was established in 2001. The company was acquired by Igneo Infrastructure Partners in February 2023.
In June 2024, the company acquired OneNeck Data Center Holdings from Telephone and Data Systems (TDS). That acquisition brought its data center footprint to 15 data centers, adding OneNeck's six facilities located in Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; Madison, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Des Moines, Iowa; and Bend, Oregon, to its portfolio.
