Dutch hosting provider Verelox temporarily lost all customer data after a former administrator wiped most of the company’s servers clean.

Since the incident, the website has been replaced by a static page detailing the efforts to rescue customer files.

Initially, the company didn’t believe it could restore all of the data affected - but a full investigation has confirmed that all files will be returned to their rightful owners.

Verelox is currently working to get its website and control panel back online. It is also offering compensation to affected parties.

Bad day

Verelox is a non-managed hosting and dedicated server provider founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Hague, the Netherlands. The company offers its services using infrastructure in the Netherlands, France, Canada and the US.

On Thursday, Verelox customers suddenly lost access to their servers. In order to look at the causes of the outage, the company was forced to take its entire network offline. It then fixed the issue, region by region - first in the Netherlands, then Canada, France and the US.

“Our network and hosting services will be back this week with security updates,” said a statement on the website. “Current customers who are still interested in our services will receive compensation for their services.”

“We know about the IPv6 issues in The Netherlands our NOC is working on it,” the company added.
