Indian data center firm VueNow this week held a blessing ceremony ahead of construction work for a new facility.

The company is developing a data center in Nadaun in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh.

Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Bikram Singh this week carried out ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ on the site ahead of construction work. Bhoomi pooja is a ritual performed before building work begins in honor of Goddess Bhoomi and Vastu Purush to ensure smooth construction.

Facility specifications weren’t shared. In December, local press announced VueNow had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the local government to establish a center at a cost of Rs 450 crore ($59m) on 24 acres of land through its Linnunrata subsidiary.

VueNoew CEO Sukhwinder Singh said: “Other than organizing the data centers and Edge data centers, the corporate additionally plans to open talent improvement facilities throughout the state to coach youth in IT abilities after which soak up them into the corporate’s technical departments, thus producing a whole lot of employment in Himachal.”

It's unclear how many data centers VueNow currently operates. The company is also proposing to build dozens of Edge data centers across the Indian state of Bihar. Last year the company expressed an interest in expanding into Bulgaria.
