Indian data center firm Web Werks is to build a 12.5MW data center in Navi Mumbai.

The company says it has spent Rs 400 crore ($55 million) to acquire a land parcel adjacent to its existing facility to develop a stand-alone purpose-built greenfield data center. The deal was facilitated by Savills India.

Web Werks begins expansion with Iron Mountain

The company says the new 100,000 sq ft (9,300 sqm) structure will be an Uptime Tier III designed data center and expected to be ready for service by mid-2022.

“Our existing data center in Mumbai runs at 80 percent occupancy, and we see increased demand from OTTs, Enterprises for our services,” said Nikhil Rathi, CEO, Web Werks India. “Even our existing customers’ demands are growing, and with this new data center we will be able to support that as well as hyperscale demand who need a connectivity-rich ecosystem.”

The new facility will be Web Werks’ fourth in India, which currently operates data centers in Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR.

Last month Web Werks announced a joint venture with Iron Mountain which will see the US data center firm invest $150 million over the next two years. Through the deal, Web Werks aims to expand its operations in its three existing markets and subsequently expand into Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
