Dr Terri Simpkin

MBA Director & Associate Professor, University of Tasmania & Associate, Portman Partners

Terri Simpkin is an industry experienced academic, educator, researcher, international public speaker, and an authority on the impostor phenomenon. She is a Portman Partners Associate working to expand the DI labour pool and advance opportunities for women in DI leadership.

Terri is actively engaged in research into the underrepresentation of women in STEM and the social barriers to girls in STEM education.

As CEO of her own company, Mischief Business Engineering, she has worked globally with governments, industry associations, large and small business and is an accomplished international academic manager.

Terri was an Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham and a Visiting Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University. She is currently MBA Director & Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania. Her current research interest has developed into Braver Stronger Smarter – a suite of initiatives designed to address personal and structural issues leading to workplace inequity and the under-representation of women in leadership, STEM occupations and other sectors such as finance.

Terri was recently included in the Power 50 – the fifty most influential women in the data economy and was recognised in as one of the Infrastructure Masons IM 100 award recipients. She was awarded the 2020 Global Women in Telco and Tech Brynn Fowler Agent of Change Award for her work championing inclusion and diversity inside and beyond the workplace.
