Rod McAllister

EMEA Sales Director, Penguin Computing

After training as a microbiologist and being part of the commissioning team for a military hospital in Saudi Arabia, Rod joined the computer industry over 30 years ago as a healthcare applications specialist, before moving into High Performance Computing with SGI in 1997.

He joined Sun Microsystems in 1999 and was part of the Education and Research team that set up and developed Sun's HPC value proposition to universities. Rod remained at Sun through the Oracle acquistion and rose to be the Head of their Higher Education business in the UK, before deciding to move back to HPC in 2015 with DDN. Rod joined Penguin Computing in October last year on a consultancy basis while the UK legal entity was being established, and since April 2018 has been the EMEA Sales Director for HPC for Penguin Computing.

He is also active within the Open Compute Project.

Outside of work and family, Rod's main interests are golf, motor racing and travel
