Iranian colocation and networking provider AsiaTech has opened a 700 square meter (7,535 sq ft) data center in Milad Tower, western Tehran.

The facility offers modern IT services in a country often criticized for its outdated telecommunications infrastructure.

“We created this center due to the unprecedented growth in the number of Internet users in Iran,” CEO of AsiaTech, Mohammad Ali Yousefizadeh, told local business publication Financial Tribune.

Modernization

AsiaTech is a privately-owned company established in 2003 with a focus on Internet services. In 2013, it obtained a license to offer web hosting, dedicated and shared servers, and colocation. Today, AsiaTech runs five data centers and connects more than 430 towns and cities across Iran.

The new facility in Tehran will offer enough space to host several thousand customers. The company said it chose Milad Tower complex as the location due to its proximity to important fiber routes and access to businesses in western part of Iran’s capital.
