Nordic data center operator DigiPlex has been employed to help system integrator NetNordic consolidate its sprawling IT estate.

NetNordic currently runs five data centers across Norway, but will be moving its operations into two of Digiplex’s facilities in Oslo, in Ulven and Rosenholm.

Dual-site solution

NetNordic is a systems integrator offering networks, data center services, IT security and corporate communications. The company's client list comprises more than 750 large and medium sized companies, including government agencies.

The Nordic countries are a fast-growing market for data centers, owing to their cold climate and renewable energy sources.

DigiPlex is Norway's largest data center owner and operator. It runs data centers powered by 100 percent renewable energy, with sites in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The Stockholm site is connected to the local district heating system, warming 10,000 apartments using waste heat produced by the servers. The colocation company's Ulven site in Oslo, where NetNordic is moving its IT, was similarly designed to provide heating to local residents.

The facility in Ulven could heat as many as 5,000 apartments once the system is fully operational in Autumn 2019.
