Panasonic has supported the Open Compute Project from the very beginning. Robert Rauh, director of Business Development at Panasonic America, says early successes have proven that this open model really works.

He also pitched Panasonic as a storage vendor – the company is a long-term supporter of the Blu-Ray format, and positions it as the perfect medium for archiving. At the Open Compute Summit in 2014, Facebook already revealed that it built a prototype system that used 10,000 Blu-Ray disks to store one petabyte worth of user photos.
