SAP has announced the launch of its Singapore Data Center for its SAP Commerce Cloud in Singapore to serve businesses across the Asia Pacific (APAC).

The facility is understood to be colocated within a data center that also houses Microsoft Azure.

The SAP data center will complete the firm’s network in the region that includes Australia, China, and Hong Kong. SAP says the Singapore Data Center will play a “major role” in ensuring that customers can deploy the SAP Commerce Cloud with minimum latency and performance issues.

Among the reasons cited for the selection of Singapore is its geopolitical stability and adherence to data privacy. The Singapore Data Center will serve as SAP’s default location for its customers in Southeast Asia and India.

“APAC’s digital commerce environment offers businesses unprecedented growth opportunities and with our goal of helping our customers master their transition to the experience economy, the region has become a key market for SAP,” said Atul Tuli, the VP and head of customer experience for SAP Southeast Asia.

“With the new Singapore Data Center, we will be better positioned to support our customers as they tap into our best-in-class commerce cloud solution,” he said.
