Panel: Hands up if you’re running AI in your data center…is immersion key to cooling dense workloads?

According to Uptime Institute’s most recent annual survey, racks with densities of 20kW and higher are becoming a reality for many data centers - a prerequisite to the proliferation of compute-intensive workloads.

There is evidence to suggest that the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning is pushing IT utilization up and consequently a re-architecture of the data center is required to adequately manage rack density and heat. As such, how will operators approach mechanical design and engineering to future-proof the modern data center? How will server overclocking be handled? Will liquid cooling finally go from esoteric science on the fringe of computing to near-mainstream?

We ask our panellists to address how the rise of cognitive computing will impact the mechanical design and operation of the modern data center.
