In July 2022, the U.S. state of Rhode Island passed a law that will require all of the state’s electricity to be offset by renewable energy by 2033. It’s the most aggressive renewable energy standard among any US state at the time of writing and a clear indication of the serious intent to reach the government’s goal of net-zero by 2050.
