Data centers are not the first industry to face energy-intensive challenges & grid concerns. Many mature industries, such as the steel sector, have had to overcome hurdles in power use, sustainability concerns, water use, and supply issues through innovative thinking.

So is it time to stop panicking and look for the lessons from other mature industries? Can these lessons help data centers predict the need for and deploy innovative energy technologies such as SMRs, microgrids, and fuel cells? Or is the grid far too complex for the demands of today?

Moreover, some mature industries have not solved their problems, so how does that impact data centers going forward? Are there lessons that data centers should be teaching other sectors?
