Severn joined 1623 as operating partner in 2019. He has also held roles at investment fund the Berks Group, which owns 1623 Farnam, and the News-Press & Gazette Company, and previously served on the board of OnLine Tech, as well as in the role of COO of NPG Cablevision.

He will also fill the position of 1623 Farnam president, which was held by Todd Cushing since 2017.

"I've had the pleasure of working within and supporting the 1623 Farnam ecosystem for more than five years now, and I am proud to take on this new title as we grow and support our customers' innovation," said Severn.

News Press & Gazette Co. subsidiary Berks Group acquired Nebraska Data Centers and the carrier hotel at 1623 Farnam Street in Omaha in 2018, and established 1623 Farnam LLC as a new company. The nine-story facility offers around 8MW of capacity across 75,000 sq ft (6,970 sqm).

"This appointment is a natural fit based on Bill's deep expertise and proven leadership both in the industry and at 1623 Farnam," said Brian Bradley, president of the Berks Group. "His work positioning the company as the premier Midwest data center and driving critical growth at the Omaha IX have not only put the organization on the path to success, but continue to bring increasing levels of value to customers in the growing 1623 Farnam ecosystem."
