An Actis-led consortium has confirmed the acquisition of the macro tower portfolio of Serbia's Telekom Srbija.

The acquisition covers around 1,800 macro towers, of which 1,000 are located in Serbia, circa 700 in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and around 100 in Montenegro.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the transaction, a new independent tower company has been established, which will be fully controlled by Actis.

Actis confirmed it has entered into a long-term master services agreement (MSA) with Telekom Srbija as the tower company’s anchor tenant.

This agreement includes a commitment to build more sites in the future.

The investment is Actis' eighth investment in the digital infrastructure space, with more than $1 billion currently committed by the company to the sector.

It was reported last week that private equity firm General Atlantic plans to acquire sustainable infrastructure investor Actis.

Such a deal will create a global investment platform with approximately $96 billion in combined assets under management. Actis has large stakes in a number of data center projects.

Actis currently has around $12.5bn in assets under management, and will become the sustainable infrastructure arm within General Atlantic’s global investment platform. Company head Torbjorn Caesar will continue to run the business.
