Planning permission for a €350m ($380m) data center has been approved by Irish authorities.

The planning request was submitted by CAP Developments LLC on behalf of Amazon. After the decision, the data center will be built on the IDA Business and Technology Park on Donore Road, Drogheda.

According to local news outlets, the center will be developed on a 50-acre site and is expected to create around 275 jobs during construction. The news about the application, the Drogheda Independent reports, was revealed in an Environmental Impact Assessment report put before the Meath County Council.

Reports also say that plans entail alterations to the existing road infrastructure, the installation of 26 generators, water tanks, and an electricity substation.

The data center's construction should begin in the Q2 2020, with full operation expected in 2023.

Not known for its sun

Ireland has been the site of a recent spate of expansions by Amazon. Back in July, Amazon submitted a proposal to build another data center in Tallaght, on the outskirts of Dublin. The proposed building spanned 23,000 sq m (250,000 sq ft).

The e-commerce giant is also funding a 23MW wind farm in County Cork, Ireland.
