Dell has announced its current VP, corporate controller and chief accounting officer Thomas W Sweet will take over as the company’s new SVP and CFO.

Sweet has been a "key leader" within the company’s corporate finance organization for 16 years.

He will take over from current SVP Brian Gladden at the end of February.

Gladden took on the role of SVP in 2008 and said he will work closely with Sweet as he settles into his role.

Dell’s chairman and CEO Michael Dell said Sweet's knowledge of Dell's business and versatility as a finance leader and strategic insights are valued by leaders across the company.

“I am delighted that Tom will be joining our leadership team to help lead Dell through our next chapter and help me position the company for long-term success,” Dell said.

Ciena announces new VP
Networking company Ciena has appointed Benoit de la Tour as its VP and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

De la Tour has more than 20 years of experience within sales, services and marketing in the software industry.

He most recently served as VP of EMEA and Latin America at Microsoft and has held executive positions at Infor and Information Builders.

Ciena’s SVP of global field operations Philippe Morin said de la Tour brings valuable experience to Ciena that will be vital as it reinforces its focus across EMEA.

He will be based at Ciena’s EMEA headquarters in London.

IXcellerate appoints senior technical advisor
Russian data center operator IXcellerate, which operates the Moscow One data center, has appointed Peter Cladingbowl as its senior technology advisor.

Cladingbowl has 15 years’ experience within the telecoms and data center industry.

Prior to this position, Cladingbowl was SVP of engineering and operations support at Interxion where he oversaw the building and ongoing maintenance of the company’s 34 European data centers.

Cladingbowl also worked with Global Crossing where he was VP of IT EMEA and then EMEA VP of operations.

In addition to his time in data centers and teleco companies, Cladingbowl spent six years in manufacturing and supply chain management and four years in the offshore oil industry.
