Target says goodbye to chairman of the board of directors, president and CEO
US retailer Target has announced the departure of its chairman of the company’s board of directors, president and CEO Gregg Steinhafel.

Steinhafel has worked for the retailer for 35 years and most recently led the company’s response to its 2013 data breach.

He was also instrumental in navigating the company through the financial recession, reacting to challenges presented by Target’s expansion into Canada, and defending the company through a high-profile proxy battle.

John Mulligan steps up from his current post as CFO to take on the roles of interim president and CEO.

And board member Roxanne Austin is now interim non-executive chair of the board.

SSE Telecoms appoints new operations director
SSE Telecoms has taken on Dave Eddy as operations director.

Eddy will be responsible for running  SSE Telecom’s business and customer operations, as it expands its services to target UK enterprises.

Eddy has held various posts in the telecoms sector including senior roles at Radianz, Nortel Networks and 186k.

Eddy has spent the past ten years at Virgin Media Business and moves from his role as director  of business operations, a post he held for four years.

Level 3 welcomes EVP and assistant secretary

evel 3 has named Laurinda Pang as EVP and chief administrative officer and the company’s current EVP, chief legal officer and assistant secretary, John Ryan as the company’s secretary. Thomas Stortz, EVP and chief administrative officer, will be retiring on June 1.

As chief administrative officer, Pang will have global responsibility for the company’s human resources, corporate strategy, corporate development, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility.

Pang, who most recently served as the company's chief human resources officer, has been with Level 3 and its predecessor companies since 1994.

Prior to leading the company's strategic people initiatives, she served as VP of customer experience re-engineering, VP of investor relations and in other leadership roles in sales, operations and marketing.

Dixon lands principal engineer post at Brocade

Brocade has hired networking and open-source “veteran” Colin Dixon as principal engineer.

Dixon is an active contributor to the OpenDaylight project -- a community-led, open, industry-supported framework for accelerating adoption, fostering innovation, reducing risk and creating a more transparent approach to software-defined networking.

He has spent the past decade on the advancement of networking, protocols and data center technologies through his academic and industry research initiatives.

Dixon’s most recent work examined how to build network fabrics using commodity Ethernet hardware controlled by software running on commodity servers.

This includes building millisecond-scale monitoring and control capabilities, hardware-agnostic multipath forwarding and practical support for Lossless Ethernet.

Previously, Dixon worked on building enterprise networks using what is now referred to as network functions virtualization.

His research also spanned to areas such as enabling the Internet of Things deployments in the home as part of the End to the Middle and HomeOS research projects.

Dixon has also served in various research roles at IBM Research’s Austin Lab, the University of Washington, Microsoft Research and Intel Research.

Options appoints  Hughes as MD for Europe
Private financial cloud provider Options has made former New York Stock Exchange Euronext executive Richard Hughes its SVP and managing director for Europe.

Hughes will be responsible for overseeing the company’s’ European division and associated efforts to drive new business growth, deliver service and further develop its regional relationships and wider European presence.

Hughes has more than 25 years experience in building and developing high-performing teams and selling complex business integration to the financial services industry.

In his most recent position at NYSE technologies, Hughes led the global and European sales teams and was general manager for Europe.

He previously spent 13 years at Omgeo, the joint venture between Thomson Reuters and the DTCC where he was MD and was responsible for overseeing the firm’s European business from 2000 to 2005.

O’Reilly joins Lancope as customer success VP
Security intelligence company Lancope has appointed Ken O’Reilly as VP of customer success.

O’Reilly has more than 25 years of technology and customer support experience, and has previously held roles at organizations including IBM Internet Security Systems, Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA), JDA Software Group and Dun & Bradstreet Software.

In his new role as VP of customer success at Lancope, O’Reilly will be responsible for the overall success of Lancope’s customers, including customer support, customer and partner training and professional services.

He will also provide a key insight into Lancope’s product development cycle based on customer feedback.

Most recently, O’Reilly served as the VP of support services research for the TSIA.
