UK data center firm Asanti has signed a new energy deal to power its facilities via renewable energy contracts.

The company this week announced an energy deal with Bryt Energy that will see it procure energy sourced from a combination of solar, wind, and hydro energy.

“Asanti is delighted to announce that we’ve signed a new deal with Bryt Energy that means we will significantly reduce our carbon footprint, eradicating an estimated 2,856 tonnes of CO2 every year,” the company said in a statement.

“Thank you to Businesswise Solutions who supported Asanti throughout the process and will continue to manage the energy procurement on our behalf.”

Asanti operates six regional Edge facilities across the UK in Hamilton, Livingston, Manchester, Leeds, Farnborough, and Reading.

The company acquired five facilities from the Daisy Group last year, while at the same time being acquired by investment firm Invesis.

Though Asanti claims its facilities are now powered by 100 percent renewable energy, like many others it is only paying to off-take the equivalent from renewable projects. The UK's grid is a mixture of fossil fuels and renewables.

Bryt Energy is part of the Statkraft group, offering renewable electricity supply options to UK customers.
