Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced increased API error rates at its Northern Virginia US-East-1 cloud region.
The multi-hour issue impacted Kinesis APIs, along with CloudWatch, ECS Fargate, and the API Gateway.
Among the users disrupted by the issue was Amazon-owned smart camera company Ring.
Ring.com, Ring Protect (video recording), Live Calls (doorbell dings and motions), video on demand, and partner integration, were down for nearly six hours.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue," Ring told customers about its global outage.
Other Amazon services including Alexa, Amazon Flex, Goodreads, and Whole Foods were also impacted by the AWS outage.
