Amazon Web Services (AWS) has won a $1.4 million cloud computing contract for the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

According to a contract award notice published on September 13, the contract includes cloud hosting, software (BYOL Service), and cloud support.

Awarded via the G-Cloud 13 Framework, the contract has an estimated value of $1.44m.

While the contract award notice was published recently, the contract itself seems to have been awarded earlier this year, commencing on June 1 and set to conclude after three years on May 30, 2027.

G Cloud is the UK government's digital marketplace through which the public sector can buy cloud-based computing services.

AWS has won several public sector contracts over the past couple of years including the Home Office, the Department of Work and Pensions, the Competition and Markets Authority, and Defra. The company is also providing $10.3bn in cloud computing storage to UK Biobank.

Earlier this month, AWS announced that it would be investing £8 billion ($10.47bn) in data centers in the UK.

NICE, part of the Department of Health and Social Care, publishes guidelines for the English and Welsh NHS around the use of health technologies, clinical practice, and health-related guidance for public sector workers.
