BDx Indonesia has announced a new 100MW campus in Jakarta.

The CGK5 campus will be built on 12 acres of land in the Suryacipta City of Industry, an industrial estate just to the East of Jakarta in Karawang, and 45 minutes from the international airport. It will be part of BDx's third Indonesian availability zone.

BDx Indonesia is a joint venture between Big Data Exchange (BDx) and Indonesian companies Indosat (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison), and Aplikanusa Lintasarta, which was announced in May 2022.

This joint venture emerged a year ago when Indosat was reported to be selling its data centers. Indosat Ooredoo was reported to have three data centers around Jakarta, which are now run by BDx Indonesia, which has a total of four data centers in the area.

The new campus is being built on land brought from the industrial estate's management, Suryacipta Swadaya, and will have good connectivity to the center of Jakarta, as well as access to a smart power grid for reliable and redundant electric power. 

The new campus will complement BDx Indonesia's existing data centers, giving it location diversity and a network-dense interconnection ecosystem for hyperscale customers, the company says.  

BDx has been building a pan-Asian data center platform, and CGK5 will be its eleventh data center in the Asia-Pacific region. BDx has equity capital of more than $1 billion and is planning to grow rapidly.
