Seattle-based cloud company Blue Box is joining the Equinix Cloud Exchange where it will provide its Blue Box Private-Cloud-as-a-Service (PCaaS). It will initially be hosted at Equinix’s SE3 International Business Exchange (IBX) facility.

Blue Box said the cloud service – an alternative to the multi-tenant public cloud – will offer a dedicated fully managed and on-demand solution.

The PCaaS is powered by OpenStack and delivered on dedicated, bare-metal hardware.

The cloud deployments are managed by its proprietary management suite, providing reliable deployment, monitoring, inventory management, metering and billing, CRM and support.

Blue Box has expanded its presence from Equinix’s SE3 facility to also include presence in Equinix’s Zurich ZH4 data center.

Blue Box said its customers will be able to access the Equinix Cloud Exchange via the Seattle SE3 data center, with plans to expand to Zurich in the future.

Blue Box’s VP of partners Ken Cavallon said; “partnering with Equinix on the Cloud Exchange lets us provide customers a seamless move to Blue Box Cloud’s PCaaS infrastructure with fast interconnects to their existing Equinix assets and other major public clouds.”

The Equinix Cloud Exchange is currently available in 17 markets globally – Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Silicon Valley, Washington DC, New York, Toronto, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt – with plans to expand to 19 markets by the end of 2014.
