Building work on the first data center of Interxion’s new campus in northern Paris, France, has been completed.

Construction firm Mercury this week said it has completed the first two phases of Interxion’s PAR8, a 19MW data center that will offer 9,600 sqm (103,300 sq ft) of space.

“Mercury is delighted to be working with our long-standing client Interxion as the general contractor on this project,” the company said this week.

First announced in April 2020, The new Interxion Paris Digital Park will offer to up to 85MW of power and 40,000 sq m (430,500 sq ft of space) across four facilities; PAR8, PAR9, PAR10 and PAR11. The new campus is on the A86 highway, facing Interxion's existing PAR7 data center on the other side of the road.

According to the original announcement, PAR8 will be built in three phases, starting with 3,200 sqm (34,000 sq ft) which was due to open in late 2021. The opening has seemingly been pushed back.

In September Interxion opened its latest Parisian data center, PAR12, to the east in Ferrières-en-Brie. It also also reportedly planning to build a new data center campus to the south of Paris in the Essonne region of France.
