Cologix has entered into the Iowa market and acquired two facilities in Des Moines.
The company this week announced it has acquired two data centers in Iowa from Connect Des Moines. Terms of the deal were not shared.
Located downtown in the Financial Center building at 666 Walnut Street, DSM1 is 4,000 square feet (371 sqm) data center and offers 600kW of power. With access to 25 carriers, the facility also has an additional 10,000 sq ft (929 sqm) of expansion capacity with 1MW of power.
DSM2 is a 12,500 sq ft (1,160 sqm) Edge facility with 1MW of power located at 1205 Technology Parkway in Cedar Falls. This facility has expansion potential for an additional 10,000 sq ft and is connected to DSM1 via a diverse fiber ring. DSM2 was previously a OneNeck data center.
“We are excited to enter the Des Moines market and bring our industry-leading colocation and interconnection solutions to businesses in Iowa,” said Laura Ortman, CEO of Cologix. “Consistent with our strategy in other markets where we operate, we are first establishing our presence with the carrier hotel in our Iowa portfolio.”
Cologix has also signed an agreement to purchase additional land in the Des Moines market that will allow the company to build additional capacity.
