Comcast Business has confirmed it has partnered with Starlink to provide Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology to its enterprise customers.

In the announcement last week, Comcast said that the move will enable it to reach customers in underserved regions.

The company is estimated to have more than 2.5 million business customers across the US. Comcast’s enterprise unit posted $2.41 billion in revenue for the first quarter of this year.

“Starlink's LEO satellite technology complements our existing network infrastructure, extends our reach, and further enhances Comcast Business’ ability to deliver reliable connectivity solutions to enterprises with a human touch,” said Jon Friedman, SVP of product strategy and operations, Comcast Business.

SpaceX subsidiary Starlink already has a partnership with US carrier T-Mobile.

However, that partnership is different as that agreement seeks to connect mobile phones from space to serve customers not close to cell towers.

According to Starlink’s own website, its users typically experience download speeds of between 25 and 220 Mbps, while upload speeds range between 5 and 20 Mbps.

The company, which Elon Musk heads, revealed in November that it had broken even for the first time and expects to generate revenues of $10 billion this year.
