CommScope said it expects the sale to close within the first half of next year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.

"CommScope has a strong reputation for driving innovation and value for our customers. This transaction allows CommScope to increase focus and further strengthen its CommScope NEXT priorities with its remaining segments and business units,” said Chuck Treadway, CEO, CommScope.

“We believe CommScope’s OWN and DAS businesses are positioned to continue to perform well under Amphenol’s leadership.”

Founded in 1932, Amphenol specializes in fiber optic connectivity. The company reported net sales of $12.6bn for 2023, and as of the end of last year, it employs 95,000 people.

OWN provides wireless infrastructure for mobile networks, including macro and small cell site solutions, while DAS business provides solutions for cellular infrastructure inside venues, campuses, and enterprises.

In the company's most recent financial earnings for the first quarter of this year, it reported a 24.1 percent year-on-year slump in OWN net sales, to $196 million. There was no specific breakdown for its DAS business.

Last year, CommScope agreed to sell its Home Networks business division to Vantiva, after trying for two years to shift the unit.

As part of that agreement, CommScope acquired a 25 percent stake in French technology company Vantiva, formerly known as Technicolor.

In June, CommScope agreed to acquire Casa System's cable business assets for $45.1m.
