Data center power systems providers Critical Power Solutions (CPSI) and EDI Power Services have merged under a new company name.

The two companies announced that they had merged to become Zavtek on January 9, 2023.

Pacific Northwest-based Critical Power Solutions initially purchased EDI Power Services of West Chester Ohio in July 2021. According to a letter written to the CPSI’s partners, the renaming of the organization as Zavtek is a ‘further unification of the two companies’. Both companies provided critical power infrastructure for a variety of sectors and will continue to do so as Zavtek.

The companies said nothing will change for CPSI or EDI customers and vendors beyond the name and some accounting details. Ownership, leadership, and team are all anticipated to remain the same.

“This is a merger of two long‐tenured institutions in the critical power industry; two very strong brands, each with its own rich history,” Lee Moss, president of Zavtek said. “Together we have grown and have seen the need for greater capacity to serve our customers’ needs throughout the country, which really was the impetus for the merger.”

According to Zavtek president Moss, the two companies have always had an overlap in terms of their customers and vendors, meaning the merger should hopefully ‘simplify’ things for both.

Zavtek’s headquarters will be based in Ohio, with further offices in Oregon, Washington, Virginia, and Texas.

The newly-christened Zavtek describes itself as a critical power solutions business offering expertise, equipment, and maintenance for data centers. This will include UPS systems, overhead power distribution, PDUs, transfer switches, UPS maintenance, and battery maintenance, as well as training. The company works alongside manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Enersys, Starline, and LayerZero
