CyrusOne has filed for planning permission from the South Dublin County Council for a new data center at the Grange Castle Business Park in the Irish capital.
The application was filed on July 14, and includes the demolition of a single-story house named "Erganagh," and the construction of a two-story data center, delivery bays, and a three-story office block in its place.
The two buildings will have a gross floor area of 35,426 sqm (381,320 sq ft).
The data center will have a single data hall on each floor with service and technical space and will be connected to a two-story delivery bay on the east of the block.
The proposed power supply for the facility will be an onsite plant consisting of 32 stand-by generators and two associated flues per generator, each 20m tall. CyrusOne is also proposing an onsite substation with an associated transformer yard and transformer building.
Cooling will consist of 32 "acoustically attenuated chillers" located on the upper-level plant gantries.
A decision on the application from South Dublin County Council is due on September 7.
Dublin is subject to a defacto moratorium on new data centers in Dublin imposed by state-owned grid operator EirGrid, which has said it won't grant any new application requests until 2028.
Grange Castle Business Park is already home to CyrusOne's Dublin 1 data center, a 54MW facility, and also hosts data centers by the likes of Digital Realty and Microsoft. EdgeConneX recently filed an appeal after its application for new data centers at the park was rejected.
The park is located adjacent to Profile Park, another area with several data centers and which has recently seen several data center development proposals rejected including those by Equinix and Vantage Data Centers. The grounds for the recent rejections have focused on the lack of grid capacity in the region and on-site renewable energy production or PPA's in the region.
