Set on 292 acres, the Red Oak campus in Ellis County will accommodate up to eight two-story facilities, each spanning 425,000 sq ft (40,000 sqm).

The first phase will feature four buildings and a 400MW substation from Oncor, capable of delivering up to 240MW of critical IT power.

Phase two will see the campus expandable to 480MW across all eight buildings.

Construction has already commenced with completion of the first phase expected in Q2 2026.

In July, DCD reported that DataBank had filed to build a $256 million facility in the Red Oak area, as detailed in state documents.

“We are excited to announce this significant investment in the Dallas area, which we consider one of the most attractive, long-term, and permanent data center markets in the US,” said Raul K. Martynek, CEO at DataBank.

Red Oak has become a major hub for data center operators in Dallas. Google and Compass both have a presence in the Red Oak area.

DataBank already has a large presence in Dallas, including its headquarters DFW1 and six other data centers in the Dallas metropolitan area.

The new data center build out comes after DataBank secured a $725m credit facility in April this year. The company said the new capital would fund ongoing expansion. DataBank also secured a $456 million green bond in February.

The announcement is the operator’s third acquisition in the past year. It acquired a 95-acre campus in Atlanta, Georgia, and an 85-acre campus in Northern Virginia in October and November 2023, respectively.

Once fully developed, DataBank said its three acquisitions will add more than 450 acres and 792MW of capacity to its portfolio.

The company broke ground on a new data center in Virginia’s Loudoun County in July this year.
