Nautilus has designed a floating facility to save on energy and cooling

In this interview James Connaughton, CEO at Nautilus Data Technologies, talks about the company’s quest to put a data center on a barge.

The primary motivation here is simplified cooling – Nautilus uses heatsinks developed for military vessels in order to cut energy use by 30 percent and completely eliminate water consumption of the data center – all of the water used for cooling returns back to the river or sea.

The conversation took place at DCD Webscale event in San Jose, California.
