DCD is postponing its flagship show, DCD>New York, until September 1-2 2020, and running a virtual conference on the original dates from March 31 to April 2, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new event schedule will deliver leading edge data center content to delegates despite travel bans and the evolving situation in New York. All event registrations will automatically transfer to the new dates, and the online event will be free to all.
Safety is paramount
“Although it is disappointing to have to postpone our flagship event, the safety of our sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, attendees and staff remains paramount. With great support from the New York Marriott Marquis we've been able to find a new date to put on our 18th annual event," said Ben Agnew, MD Europe & North America at Datacenter Dynamics. "We felt a fitting response to the first pandemic of the information age would be to use new digital platforms to deliver a virtual conference program. Despite the restrictions that Covid-19 is putting on people's ability to travel, the industry still needs access to a credible thought leadership platform."
Numerous IT sector events round the world have had to cancel due to travel bans and advice from venues and city authorities. Meanwhile, data centers and digital infrastructure have registered an increase in traffic due partly to people searching for information, and the demands of home workers. Data centers in regions affected by the outbreak have moved to special regimes that will keep them open during the epidemic, such as SuperNAP Italia in Milan.
DCD reports a record audience of close to 2,000 delegates was expected for its New Yotk show. Now a digital conference program has been developed with 24 free-to-view interactive webinars taking place between March 31 and April 2 for a global audience. Delegates will be able to participate in live Q&A, audience polls and gain insights from industry leaders.
