Latvian data center firm DEAC is planning a new facility in the capital city of Riga.
The company this week announced plans for a 10MW facility with capacity for 1,000 racks. It said it will seek Tier III certification for the data center.
The facility will use on-site solar panels, be powered by renewable energy, and use backup power provided by MY Neste Diesel. Construction is due for completion by Q4 2024.
"This is an incredible opportunity to build a new data center that meets companies' needs while also caring for our environment," said DEAC CEO Andris Gailitis.
Owned by a Swiss investment infrastructure fund managed by Quaero Capital, DEAC offers colocation services from facilities in Latvia’s capital Riga and Vilnius in Lithuania.
Established in 1999, DEAC owns one 2.3MW data center and a 0.4MW site in Riga, while its third facility in Vilnius has 4MW of capacity with an additional 400 racks under construction.
"Together with the data center operator DLC, DEAC offers two primary locations in Riga and Vilnius and is quickly growing to become the Baltics' most significant and comprehensive data center network," added Quaero Capital managing partner Sebastien Bourget.
