American cloud and colocation provider Green House Data has added three more data centers to its roster, following the acquisition of rival FiberCloud.

The new facilities are located in the state of Washington and include server rooms in the iconic Westin Building Exchange - a major telecommunications hub in downtown Seattle.

“Seattle’s enterprise market and history of high growth and innovation made this a natural choice for us,” said Shawn Mills, president of Green House Data. “Integrating FiberCloud into Green House Data will allow us to deliver a larger set of products with greater geographic diversity and drive a cost structure which will provide higher value for all of our customers.”

Green House Data runs enterprise-class data centers in Oregon, Wyoming, New Jersey and New York. All of its facilities are powered exclusively by renewable energy, and use outside ambient air for cooling. They are also compliant with HIPAA, SSAE 16 Type II, and PCI-DSS.

FiberCloud was founded in 2001 as Lightstream Datacenters, a subsidiary of local telecommunications provider Whidbey Telecom. It owns data centers in Everett and Bellingham, as well as server space in the Westin Building, which also hosts the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX).

“From a technology perspective, colocation space in the Westin Building Exchange is ideal,” said Cortney Thompson, CTO at Green House Data. “With over 250 carriers, service, and content providers and over 39,000 cross connects, this is the premier facility in Seattle. Paired with Green House Data’s nationwide cloud, customers will have unparalleled access to infrastructure resources for their critical workloads.”

Under the terms of the deal, FiberCloud will separate from Whidbey Telecom and continue operations under the Green House Data brand.

Green House is also constructing a brand new facility in Orangeburg, New York. It will offer 20,000 square feet of floor space and is scheduled to open in the first half of 2015.
