The International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group is providing Yondr Group with a $150 million loan for its Malaysia data center development.

The loan will go towards financing the construction of the first phase of Yondr's 300MW data center campus planned for Sedenak Tech Park in Johor, Bahru.

The campus will sit on a 72.5 acre plot, and is planned to become Malaysia's largest data center development in terms of combined land size and power capacity.

The site will also be certified by IFC's Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) green building program.

Chester Reid, Yondr's CFO, said: "We are very pleased to conclude this round of financing with IFC. Not only do our values and interests align but we are both organizations well-versed in offering industry-leading expertise to develop digital infrastructure projects.

"This financing demonstrates the potential IFC sees not only in Yondr's best-in-class capabilities but also in Malaysia's digital economy, which is developing at pace. We look forward to expanding our growing relationship with IFC and partnering in Malaysia and other developing nations in the future."

"We are excited to partner with Yondr for this significant data center investment in Malaysia," added Katia Daude Gonçalves, country manager for Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei at IFC. "This project will help increase and improve digital connectivity for individuals and businesses in a sustainable manner, while increasing the competitiveness of the burgeoning market for data-hosting services in the country and the region."

The IFC is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. This is its third investment in Malaysia since it established a presence in the country in 2023.

Yondr Group powered up the Johor Campus in March 2024 through the energization of its substation.

The powering up followed an August 2023 partnership between Yondr and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, a multinational Malaysian electricity company and the largest publicly-listed power company in Southeast Asia.

The partnership involves an electricity supply agreement that enables the delivery of 300MW+ IT load via a 275kV high voltage substation, when fully complete.

The Sedenak Tech Park, formerly known as Kulai Iskandar Data Exchange (KIDEX), is a data center complex in the 7,290-acre Sedenak Technology Valley in Johor, Malaysia.
