Discord, the instant messaging platform popular among the gaming community, is down.

The outage impacts the 150 million monthly active users that communicate with voice calls, video calls and text messaging.

"We have identified the underlying issue with the API outage, but are dealing with a secondary issue on one of our database clusters," the company said in the Discord client.

"We have our entire on-call response team online and responding to the issue."

The problem began at around 2:45PM ET.

Discord is limiting logins "to manage the traffic load," which means some users that are logged in can continue to use the system. “We will be slowly raising the limits here to allow more users in as we can,” the company said.

The service previously went down in November due to issues with its cloud provider, Google Cloud.
