US data center services company Internap Network Services Corp. has launched a data center in Secaucus, New Jersey. The facility is the company's 12th nationwide.

It will serve customers in the New York metro area and beyond, supporting services that will include including colocation, managed hosting and virtual and bare-metal cloud.

Mike Higgins, senior VP of data center services at Internap, said, “Our new Secaucus facility will empower customers across a range of industries in New York and beyond – from mobile app developers and digital advertisers to financial services and Fortune 500 companies – with high-performance hybrid infrastructure services designed to meet their application needs throughout the complete business lifecycle.”

The company cited a 451 Research study that concluded that multi-tenant data center utilization in the New York metro market was expected to reach 94% by 2014. The Secaucus facility will add 55,000 sq ft over time to Internap’s existing data center capacity in the region, including a facility at 75 Broad St. in Manhattan, which is nearing full capacity.

The N+1 mechanical and electrical infrastructure design of the new facility ensures concurrent maintainability, the company said. It supports densities up to 18kW per rack.

The design includes high-efficiency UPS system, outdoor air cooling system and reclaimed building materials.

Internap offers 100% uptime guarantee for all IT infrastructure services.
